You can change a name only on Japanese PSN. You have to come up with new email.

How do I make a new master account?
When I first got my PS3, my I had my Step-Dad make a master account because I was too young, and I don't like posting false info. I ended up deleting that account, and I made another account for purchases, but I don't recall it asking me to make it a master account. How do I make another master account? I'm thinking about getting a dual master's degree in Accounting and Information Systems. Good or not good

I'm thinking about getting a dual master's degree in Accounting and Information Systems. Good or not good?
How marketable do you think it'll be for a person to have a dual master's degree in Public Accounting and Business Information Systems? Additional Information (optional read): I already have the soft skills required to be successful in the job market today (e.g. - good job interviewing, interpersonal and communication skills). The only thing I'm lacking is technical skills. So, I figured if I get a dual graduate degree in Accounting and Information Systems, that'll fill in the gap. *I majored in Finance (with a minor in communications) in my undergraduate studies - just to let you know. In addition, financing my graduate education will not be a problem.

Having a degree in Accounting is a great idea. To be honest I would run with just that. I would also look into going and doing a income tax course. There is alot of money to be made in that. They are always looking for a good accountant!!!! We have a family friend that got her degree in Accounting, and lives a life style that alot would like. I hope this just gives you something to think about. Good luck with whatever you choose.

2
Sounds good to me! Accounting is always going to be a viable career option, because lets be honest here, it takes a certain level of patience to enjoy that subject, and the work that goes with it. to have info systems on top of that would be great. You could take on a managerial role in a firm, with that sort of background. I think you have a guarantee with the accounting, and if you really have those interpersonal skills down, you could really move up in a company. I do hope you are up for the challenge though... because that is going to be a painstaking process. Good luck!

3
It's not good - it's an excellent idea. Given your background in Finance, you could even consider becoming a CPA or going into IS Consulting. One role that is in tremendous demand today is Financial Systems Auditor. Your dual major would be perfect for that position.

It's the first one you create. It's the first one all the way to the left that tells who the users are you created for your ps3. I believe also when you create a new account, by going all the way to the left on the XMB, under the power button, it shows users and it says Create new user, then after you login to the new user account, you can create a new psn id and when you create it, by going to the right on the xmb to the second to last one, it says sign up for the PSN and when you create a new psn id, I believe it will ask if you want to give it master account privaleges, but I may be mistaken.

I'd go with the MBA first. This will round you out with an understanding of all of business and how it applies to accounting. Then, take the extra courses in accounting. You're educational background and resume will speak for your interest in accounting, while demonstrating you have an inkling about business. T

2
Assuming that you have an undergraduate degree with a major in accounting, you would do well to continue with the MBA degree and prepare for a top level management position. If you don't think you will like management, then you could take a Masters in accounting and prepare for a staff position. The MBA would not prevent you from a career purely in accounting. You would want to choose a school that offers some good accounting electives beyond the courses you have taken. If you don't have an undergraduate in accounting, it would be tough to do it only at the graduate level. It can be done but it would take longer. No one should consider an MBA degree without consulting the Official MBA Guide, a comprehensive free public service with more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. It allows you to search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, etc), and by listing your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. What's the difference between a Master's in Accountancy and an MBA focused on Accounting

What's the difference between a Master's in Accountancy and an MBA focused on Accounting?
My current school offers a 5-year Master's program in Accountancy but I would like to get my MBA from a better school. I was wondering if it would be redundant to get both? p.s. I am thinking about the 5 year Masters at my current school because that will give me the 150 credit hours i need to take my cpa exam. Thanks!
Higher Education (University +) - 1 Answers

MBA programs focus on general business areas. Even if there's a concentration offered, you actually take very few courses specific to it. When you come from an undergrad business degree area it is particularly redundant material as you've already learned much of it. In your case if you are interested in being a practicing CPA then an MBA is going off in the wrong direction (and a costly one at that). Take the master's in accounting instead. It's more relevant as it focuses on higher issues within accounting itself. In particular, the 5th year program is VERY appealing as it's only a year additional beyond undergrad. That is a golden opportunity so you can be out ready to work after you're done. Jump at this opportunity, it's a perfect match for you. Overall, don't try to stay in school for too long if you can avoid it. Getting out earning full time work experience is far more important for these types of careers.

How do I change my PS3 sub account to the master account? Do games bought with a PSN card work on all accounts?
My brother had the master account, but he passed away in November of 2008. I'm asking this now because I bought a PSN card today, and I can't buy anything on my sub account. If I download a game from the PlayStation Store on the master account, will it also be sent to the sub account? Your answers will be appreciated.

sorry about your brother , that must be tough you can't change from a sub account to a master but if you buy something on the master account or create a new user/psn account that's a master account you can purchase anything and use it on all accounts on the system as long as the purchasers account is on the system . there are some limitations - sub accounts can't use any items rated too high ( if you buy m rated games or dlc you need a master account because of parental controls ) I have 4 accounts on my ps3 and purchase games and dlc on my main account but it's played on all of them

2
As far as I know, there is no way to promote a sub-account to a master account. Unless he kept his passwords somewhere (written on a paper, or stored on his computer), you are out of luck for changing the parental controls. I'm sorry for your loss, and I hoped this helped.

With no experience I think you are coming into a large corporation as a staff accountant or financial analyst. You can also go into public accountant but again it is an entry level position. Depending on the reputation of your school, the MBA will help accelerate your career once you have the fundamental accounting experience under your belt.

Is accounting doable if you have the drive to master it

Is accounting doable if you have the drive to master it?
Okay so I'm not the smartest person ever. So ever since I turned 18 I've been lost and haven't had a clue what to do with my life because I'm not good at many things that seem like they would make me very employable. So one day I'm with a "friend" and they suggest that I think about going to College. And since I've been kind of depressed about my directionless life I did think about it. And I realized something I always seemed to understand math and do good If I try. So I kind of had an epiphany I realized that anyone could do math if they studied it hard and long enough and I'm ready to study as much as my mind and body can handle, so Accounting might be the way to go career wise. So my question is if you have the drive to master the process of accounting and just studied, studied, and studied can the average person master accounting? I'm ready to put every ounce of my energy into studying accounting as much as humanly possible. Is this a good plan? Is a somewhat mediocre student like me capable of being successful in this field if I give it my all?
Higher Education (University +) - 3 Answers

Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1
Let me first say that you're smarter than you give yourself credit for. The grammar in that question was flawless, which is much more than can be said for most questions on this website. So obviously your language/written communication skills are also up to par. Of course you can master it if you put everything you have into it. But that doesn't mean you'll enjoy it as a career. You really have to study something that you're passionate about, otherwise it likely won't work. I think you should consider some programs in the Humanities. Like I said, your writing is good. Math may be something you can work at, but it seems to me that language is already your best skill.

2
I must agree with the previous poster on one point: this was one of the best questions I have read. So you definitely have language skills. As for accounting, there really isn't a lot of math there, above arithmetic. Especially since 99.9% of accountants use computers nowadays, the kicker is understanding how to categorize and document the money. If you can figure out what is 19.7% of 45,000, then you can handle the math without problems. The fun begins when you try to understand the IRS legalese.

3
First. I'm a mediocre student who "mastered" accounting. I graduated last in my HS class and went on to earn an accounting degree with honors from a major state university. Accounting can be a lucrative career. Second. Accounting is not mathematics. Accounting is debits and credits. If your passion is mathematics, consider studying mathematics. Mathematics is the career of the future. It could be your ticket to success. To thine own self be true. Last. Anybody could be a success if they just gave it their all. You're right on the money. Work hard and good luck. See you at the top.

Would it be bad or good idea to get a bachelor's in accounting and masters in business management? See below?
I want to be an accountant (probably a CPA), so would it be logical to get a bachelor's at undergrad school in accounting and, since the grad school that I really want to go to doesn't offer an accounting master's, get a master's in business management in grad school? Or is it pretty much necessary to continue with accounting in grad school if I want to be an accountant?

If you want to be an accountant, it probably would be better to get your masters in Accounting. However, since you are limited by your choice of schools, a Masters in Business would not be bad. This should put you in a position to give good business advice to your accounting clients. Believe me, many of them need a lot of good advice. You will be surprised at how many businesses are run by the seat of the pants method!!! The only problem I see is practicing in states that require 5-year accounting degrees/or equivalent. Be sure to check the state you intend to practice in to be sure you have all the qualifications necessary to sit for and pass the CPA exam. This is a BIGGEE!!! Good Luck!

If you're in the US, there's no masters degree in pharmacy - you need to apply to a 4-year PharmD program. Most require significant background in the sciences, so you might not have the necessary pre-requisites. Try looking up a few programs to see what they require.

Higher Education (University +) - 3 Answers

No, not at all - a Bachelor's is enough. But keep in mind that at many schools, a major in Accounting has become a 5 year course -- which is why you may be thinking it's a master's degree? Each state is a little different, but in most states, you have to have had enough accounting classes in college and a certain amount of experience (1 year seems to be the norm) before you can sit for the exam.

No

The distinction is between states that require 150 semester units and states that do not. A Master's degree is not required but certain universities in states that have adopted the 150 unit requirement are now offering concurrent Masters in Public Accounting. Such as the integrated MPA offered by the McCombs School at UT Austin: http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/mpa/integrated/ The Uniform CPA Exam is the same in every state, but the requirements to sit for the CPA Exam and to be licensed vary from state to state. In over half the states 150 units is now required; in some instance to sit for the exam, and in other instances to attain the CPA license. In California, a Bachelor's degree in any major that includes 24 units of accounting and 24 business related units allows a person to sift for the CPA exam. If a person has 120 units, he can gain the license with two years appropriate experience. With 150 units, the license only requires one year of appropriate experience. The 24 units in accounting and 24 units in business related subjects do not have to be taken as part of the Bachelor's degree program. They can be completed long after the bachelor's degree was earned. The requirements for California are found on pages 3-5 of California Board of Accountancy "Uniform CPA Examination Handbook(First-Time Applicants)" available at this link. http://www.dca.ca.gov/cba/publications/exambk1.pdf Florida requires the most accounting education of any state: 36 upper division Accounting units and 150 units overall. But no experience is required for licensure: http://www.myflorida.com/dbpr/cpa/CPA-examlink1.html New York goes to the 150 unit requirement this Summer. Texas and Illinois also require 150 units. A CPA needs to be licensed in the state he practices in. Go to the State Board of Accountancy website for full details of what is required in a state. Requirements for all states can be accessed at this link: http://www.beckercpa.com/state/index.cfm

Boston College. Better atmosphere, better people. I'd never recommend that anyone go to the U of Texas in Austin. I've been there several times for many things and the whole campus feels very crowded, very impersonal, and very state-institution-ish. You'll be much happier in Boston.

Certificate in accounting at UC Berkeley extension or Master of accountancy at golden gate university

Certificate in accounting at UC Berkeley extension or Master of accountancy at golden gate university?
I am a Ph.D in science. I want to change my career to accounting. Both of the programs will allow me to take the CPA exam. But UC Berkeley extension is less expensive, and Berkeley extension is held by a much better university. Will a CPA without accounting degree find a job or intern in current job market? Thank you!

well, here is the thing to think about, one is a certificate ( from a better school, but still a certificate though), where as the other one is a legit masters degree. Although you may have to give UCB a pass, which is hard, I would go with the GGU masters of accountancy because of the degree, both ways will lead to a CPA test as you said. So I would say that you could a job way faster if you were a CPA and had a masters degree in related fields, I say GGU.

Higher Education (University +) - 3 Answers

Nothing

2
In reality, no difference. It all depends on the school issuing the degree. To some a MAcc sounds more specific, but they are really the same. It's like getting an MA in religion vs getting an MDiv (Master of Divinity). There's no real, practical difference.

3
Traditionally, The MS in Accounting will include more academic research type courses (stats, methods, etc...) than will the MAcc while the MAcc will include more "doin accounting" type courses. Reality, It depends on the school, what is an MS at one school may be identical to the MAcc at another. The MAcc is a terminal degree though and that can make some difference. In some programs, the MAcc runs toward 45 hours whereas the MS stays around 30-36. Theoretically, the MAcc would prepare the student for advanced practice whereas the MS (or MA) would prepare the student for further study toward the PhD. It all depends on the school though - check the differing curricula.

Should I go to Arizona State or Western Michigan for a Master's in Accounting

Should I go to Arizona State or Western Michigan for a Master's in Accounting?
Arizona State has a highly ranked accounting program and a job placement rating of over 90% but is really expensive because it's out of state for me. Western Michigan's accounting program is mediocre but I would save a lot of money (the cost is approx. 33% of ASU's tuition) because I would be able to live with my parents and pay in-state tuition.

If you went to Arizona State you would probably have to live in Arizona, which is too dangerous a place to be for the foreseeable future. Better to go to WMU or find a third choice.

Where can I get an online Master's degree in Accounting?
Right now I have plenty of time to focus on the degree and would like to see if I can complete the program in 3-6 months rather than the customary 1-2 years. I have a financial background, but no accounting. Where should I look to find this? Obviously I also want a good education.

There is no Master's degree you can finish in that period of time, unless you do a mail order scam. In addition, the Master of Accountancy is generally not necessary for working in the field, and very few institutions offer it. What you are probably looking for is an MBA with an accountancy focus, since that is the more common route. If you have no background in accounting, you are going to have a very difficult time being accepted to a reputable graduate program. Graduate programs require you to have at least some undergraduate work or relevant experience in the field. Also keep in mind that most reputable on-line MBA programs are geared towards mid-career working professionals. I would urge you to enroll in some introductory accounting courses at your local community college and get those under your belt before you consider doing anything else. (As someone planning on going into accounting, surely you understand how important it is to find out whether something is a worthwhile investment!) Then you can start thinking about MBAs; I'm assuming you already have a Bachelor's. Some programs you may want to consider for an on-line MBA in accounting are Regis University ( http://www.mbaregis.com/degrees-fin-acct.php ), UMass-Lowell ( http://www.umassonline.net/degrees/Online-Degree-Master-Business-Administration-Lowell.cfm ), Drexel University ( http://www.drexel.com/ ), University of Maryland-University Campus ( http://www.umuc.edu/programs/grad/msafm ; it's an M.S. degree), or Western Governors ( http://www.wgu.edu/business/master_business_administration_degree ). Note that most of them also offer on-line Bachelor's degrees in accounting. You should not go anywhere *near* the University of Phoenix, Kaplan, Penn Foster, or any other for-profit enterprises like those. Read http://higheredpro.wordpress.com/2009/09/06/choosing-online-colleges-wisely/ for details on finding legitimate on-line degree programs.

Competence is Senior to IQ. There are many low IQ people who are brilliant at their highly skilled jobs. Then there are those with stellar IQ's and are bumbling idiots at their job. Of course all people are different. So some people with similar competence levels and IQ's would find either of these jobs easy, or hard, depending on their individual ability and attitude. Usually people study so much, for one reason, that is to become a professor. If you don't want to be professor, don't bother with the Master of Accounting. Actuarial Science is very difficult and jobs are very few, if your school allow tons of people to study such a course, you will graduate without a job in view.

Ivy League schools are the best in everything. Pretty much any campus in the University of California system would be a great choice. UT Austin, Ohio State, U Michigan, UC Denver, and NYU are some other great options. There are two factors you need to consider. You need to find a college or university that has a great reputation and it also needs to be a place you'd want to attent. If Ohio State has a better program, but you feel more comfortable at U Michigan, then go to U Michigan. Don't worry about the cost. Go where you feel you belong.

depends on what you want to do with your education. if you want to go into accounting with a small business a CPA should be enough to get you started. if you want to go with one of the big four firms or get into consulting a MBA and CPA would be better especially if your undergrad is not from a top school.

Most states have the 150 credit rule for CPA licensure. The average bachelor program is 120-130 credits so you lack the amount needed. A master's degree in accounting will make up for the credits needed, allow you to seek full financial aid, serve as a prep course, and ultimately allow you have a master's degree which will have you qualified into a higher pay grade.

Hi, can anyone provide me some information about the quality of CSULA Master accounting program? i've been searching online but still got no valuable results. thx

It is nearly impossible to search online for the quality of a graduate accounting program outside of sources like US News. So if it's not ranked in US News, then it's sort of difficult to determine the quality. However, it doesn't mean a program isn't any good if it isn't ranked on US News. One of the things I would go by then is whether a graduate program is accredited by AACSB, which is the preeminent accrediting body for business programs. The CSULA business prorgram is accredited by AACSB at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Therefore, all programs/disciplines (accounting, finance, info. systems etc.) within both graduate and undergraduate levels must meet strict standards to qualify for AACSB accrediation. CSULA has consistently been accredited at both levels longer than most schools in Califorina. That's one way you can measure the quality of the program, although there are probably other ways as well. But take my word for it, AACSB is a pretty strong seal of approval. Look at www.aacsb.edu/accreditation/ for more information.

Check with the base you will be moving to and see if there are any job openings for someone with your degree. With a Master's in Accounting you should have very little problem finding employment.

I guarantee that you will be greeted like a goddess once you mention your qualifications. I never saw a post that didn't need civilian help in anyone of a dozen offices, and the AAFES stores were always a disaster. Once you're settled in, ask around about opens in your career field. You might need to take the Civil Service exam, but if you already have a M.A., it'll be cake. Welcome to the Army family, and congrats on the wedding! Many happy years to both of you.

I personally against MBA and ideally, one should do specialisation in one topic and then do the MBA. Please note that MBA from the tier 1 university always been ahead from others and at the same time MBA from other univ is as bad as studying in 3rd world univ. I would say that try to get into top tier univ and do your mba. it will pay you off. you can select the univ with your own ranking. and that ranking should include; 1. your personal preference 2. reputation 3. return on investment 4. student-teacher ratio 5. salary increment after graduation blah blah... best of luck

2
I would recommend getting your MBA. It will give you more opportunities once you have completed your degree and it will give you a better chance of getting a higher position. There are also programs out there that allow you to get your MBA in a little over a year. It called an amMBA. I just went through the same search process and found a good program. http://www.adelphi.edu/manhattan/business.php

We get this question a lot. In one of our podcasts, we actually interviewed some faculty at some of the top business schools on what they would suggest. Here's a quick description of what the podcast is about: Like anything else in life, there isn’t a single road to a career in Business and Finance. Getting a Master’s in Finance or Economics is, of course, one way; getting an MBA is another. Fiona Sandford is Director of Career Services at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She says the MBA track or the Master’s in Science track can lead to the same career but using different approaches. “The traditional MBA course exposes you to a wide range of management disciplines, and gives you a way of thinking about management and a career in that area. An MSc in Finance or an MSc in Economics gives you a very rigorous academic approach to finance disciplines or to economics. But it doesn’t, by any stretch of the imagination, preclude you from going on to developing a career in Management as many students do. So I think it depends on individual learning styles.” Listen to the full interview at http://www.mbapodcaster.com/MBA_MoreInfo/MBAvMSF.asp?iEpisode=12. We also have another podcast that will help you understand what to expect from an MBA with a concentration in accounting: http://www.mbapodcaster.com/MBA_MoreInfo/PartIIIVariousMBATracks.asp?iEpisode=43 Good luck! -MBA Podcaster

Forensic accounting is more proper to be used in an investigative/ audit work as it involves drilling through series of transactions, documents, activities that the suspect were trying to do to hide the real nature of the transaction. You can try applying for a back office-accounting role/ credit analyst/ internal audit.

if you plan on sitting for the cpa typically you'll need extra hours, but i would look to be hired on and then take night courses to obtain additional credits (if needed- we need extra in ohio) most of my college friends have obtained jobs and are going to start working while studying towards the cpa b/c of the 1 year we need of experience rule. finance was my other major and i didn't want to sell securites, get into banking or anything like that so i went with accoutning joe

4
Why don't you do both.get a job in accounting and get your masters while you work.

5
Nowadays.... Going for the master's (WITH AN MBA) IS essential. I know three CFOs (Chief Financial Officers) in some corporations and they would be nothing if they did not have their master's WITH MBA. Go for it. In the future (particularly in THIS field), you will not be sorry and with a masters WITH MBA, you will put yourself in a competitive field and not just in ann ordinary field... Believe me. Costs money... yes.. I went to the University with NO money and worked my whole way thru at the University and a small loan. I do not regret it in the least.

6
get some experience and work on your masters degree at night. You'll run into the same problem in a year or 2 with a masters degree and no experience --> and at that point the problem might actually be a bigger problem. no experience is worse the longer you wait. i graduated with a BS in accounting with minors in Comp Sci & Economics with little experience. I worked for a year and then found a company to pay for my MBA. The experience in that year got me the job and the job got me my MBA.

Mater of Science in Accounting is an advanced accounting degree beyond the bachelors of Science in accounting. Typically it consists of a year of concentrated study in accounting beyond the bachelors courses, usually leading to a CPA, which in most states requires 30 hours of graduate work beyond the BS. The MBA is a Master in Business Administration, usually consisting of two year of study of general business courses, intended for graduates with any undergraduate degree who have several years of work experience after graduation and want to gain management positions. MBA in accounting does not exist. Nor does MBA in finance, or MBA in marketing, or MBA in anything else. The MBA is a terminal degree in business administration. MBA programs may have a concentration in accounting, or another field, which usually means two or three elective courses in the field in the second year, but the students still earn a master in business administration, regardless of concentration. Before you decide on an MBA program explore the Internet for information on available programs. There is a lot of information available in free public service sites. Some sites are limited to specific countries, such as Germany, UK, or Australia. Some list a small number of select schools, while others may include more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. You can find the program that best fits you. You can search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by type of degree (MBA, MS, Ph.D). In some cases you can select your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. You can find data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees such as MBA/JD, and much more. Some sites have links to the schools' web sites, or provide email addresses to contact schools of your choice, and send them pre-applications. You can find lists of top schools ranked by various periodicals or ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. Generally you should stay away from any sites that require you to pay to get information or that promise to find scholarships for you or ensure acceptance into a program. Before you provide any personal information to a site, be sure to read their privacy policy and make sure they are not harvesting email addresses for sale.

Phoenix University is always advertising, so you could try them. I don't think online degrees are as respected though as degrees one gets from sitting in class.

My favorite search tool for online degree programs is Peterson's at http://www.petersons.com/distancelearning/code/search.asp You have far more options than the "as seen on TV" online colleges. Accounting is a perfectly suited field for online study.
