Can anyone tell me if the Master degree is necessary for an Accounting major student or CPA is enough?
I don't think it is necessary to have a master degree as an Accounting major student if I can be a Certified Public Accountant with my BS Degree. The reason is pass CPA is everything for an Accounting student and CPA is what employers are looking for.Can some one tell me whether it is true or not?

depends on what you want to do with your education. if you want to go into accounting with a small business a CPA should be enough to get you started. if you want to go with one of the big four firms or get into consulting a MBA and CPA would be better especially if your undergrad is not from a top school.

Some states require either a Masters Degree or completion of a 5th year program before you can sit for the CPA exam. This link might be helpful.http://www.aicpa.org/states/uaa/digest.htm Also ask your school counselor and your accounting teachers.

DO I really need my Master's degree in Accounting
DO I really need my Master's degree in Accounting?

Most states have the 150 credit rule for CPA licensure. The average bachelor program is 120-130 credits so you lack the amount needed. A master's degree in accounting will make up for the credits needed, allow you to seek full financial aid, serve as a prep course, and ultimately allow you have a master's degree which will have you qualified into a higher pay grade.

It is nearly impossible to search online for the quality of a graduate accounting program outside of sources like US News. So if it's not ranked in US News, then it's sort of difficult to determine the quality. However, it doesn't mean a program isn't any good if it isn't ranked on US News. One of the things I would go by then is whether a graduate program is accredited by AACSB, which is the preeminent accrediting body for business programs. The CSULA business prorgram is accredited by AACSB at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Therefore, all programs/disciplines (accounting, finance, info. systems etc.) within both graduate and undergraduate levels must meet strict standards to qualify for AACSB accrediation. CSULA has consistently been accredited at both levels longer than most schools in Califorina. That's one way you can measure the quality of the program, although there are probably other ways as well. But take my word for it, AACSB is a pretty strong seal of approval. Look at www.aacsb.edu/accreditation/ for more information.

Does anyone have information on Master's in Accounting programs
Does anyone have information on Master's in Accounting programs?
I'm thinking about working toward my masters in accounting, but aside from going to the library and looking up information, does anyone know of any sites that list the schools that offer this degree that I can look up right now? I tried searching "masters accounting programs" but came up with nothing. TIA~

Here are sites for a Master of Science Degree in Accounting: Just google: Master of Science in Accounting and several sites will appear. It is important to make sure that the university is accredited and recognized by the state Board of Education, too. Best wishes.

Army wife with Master's in Accounting, what can I do
Army wife with Master's in Accounting, what can I do?
I'm going to get married in two weeks to my fiance who is in the army. I know we'll be moving a lot, and I have a Master's in Accounting. I was wondering what related government/army jobs are available for civilians? Any ideas?

Check with the base you will be moving to and see if there are any job openings for someone with your degree. With a Master's in Accounting you should have very little problem finding employment.

I guarantee that you will be greeted like a goddess once you mention your qualifications. I never saw a post that didn't need civilian help in anyone of a dozen offices, and the AAFES stores were always a disaster. Once you're settled in, ask around about opens in your career field. You might need to take the Civil Service exam, but if you already have a M.A., it'll be cake. Welcome to the Army family, and congrats on the wedding! Many happy years to both of you.
