most people can not get into Texas university on the first try its the best so,go for the best .a mentor will get you into the accounting society on campus.

Boston College. Better atmosphere, better people. I'd never recommend that anyone go to the U of Texas in Austin. I've been there several times for many things and the whole campus feels very crowded, very impersonal, and very state-institution-ish. You'll be much happier in Boston.

Certificate in accounting at UC Berkeley extension or Master of accountancy at golden gate university

Certificate in accounting at UC Berkeley extension or Master of accountancy at golden gate university?
I am a Ph.D in science. I want to change my career to accounting. Both of the programs will allow me to take the CPA exam. But UC Berkeley extension is less expensive, and Berkeley extension is held by a much better university. Will a CPA without accounting degree find a job or intern in current job market? Thank you!

well, here is the thing to think about, one is a certificate ( from a better school, but still a certificate though), where as the other one is a legit masters degree. Although you may have to give UCB a pass, which is hard, I would go with the GGU masters of accountancy because of the degree, both ways will lead to a CPA test as you said. So I would say that you could a job way faster if you were a CPA and had a masters degree in related fields, I say GGU.

What is the difference between a master of science (MS) in accounting and a master of accounting (MAcc)

What is the difference between a master of science (MS) in accounting and a master of accounting (MAcc)?

Nothing

In reality, no difference. It all depends on the school issuing the degree. To some a MAcc sounds more specific, but they are really the same. It's like getting an MA in religion vs getting an MDiv (Master of Divinity). There's no real, practical difference.

Traditionally, The MS in Accounting will include more academic research type courses (stats, methods, etc...) than will the MAcc while the MAcc will include more "doin accounting" type courses. Reality, It depends on the school, what is an MS at one school may be identical to the MAcc at another. The MAcc is a terminal degree though and that can make some difference. In some programs, the MAcc runs toward 45 hours whereas the MS stays around 30-36. Theoretically, the MAcc would prepare the student for advanced practice whereas the MS (or MA) would prepare the student for further study toward the PhD. It all depends on the school though - check the differing curricula.

Should I go to Arizona State or Western Michigan for a Master's in Accounting

Should I go to Arizona State or Western Michigan for a Master's in Accounting?
Arizona State has a highly ranked accounting program and a job placement rating of over 90% but is really expensive because it's out of state for me. Western Michigan's accounting program is mediocre but I would save a lot of money (the cost is approx. 33% of ASU's tuition) because I would be able to live with my parents and pay in-state tuition.

If you went to Arizona State you would probably have to live in Arizona, which is too dangerous a place to be for the foreseeable future. Better to go to WMU or find a third choice.
