There are books that contain summary information about thousands of universities. Petersen's Guide to Colleges and Barron's Guide to Colleges are two. See if your library has these or something similar.

I'd suggest just searching for the degree on the internet. I'm sure many schools will come up that offer the Master in Accountancy (M.Acc.) degree. A few that I know about are University of Florida, Ohio State University, and especially University of South Florida which is well known for their excellent M.Acc. program. But there are very many. Costs will vary.

Get your masters! Businesses respect it more. Trust me, if you haven't gone to proessional school, you can get a job. However if you have a masters you can go a lot further, faster. I would choose accounting, it's more reputable.

if you plan on sitting for the cpa typically you'll need extra hours, but i would look to be hired on and then take night courses to obtain additional credits (if needed- we need extra in ohio) most of my college friends have obtained jobs and are going to start working while studying towards the cpa b/c of the 1 year we need of experience rule. finance was my other major and i didn't want to sell securites, get into banking or anything like that so i went with accoutning joe

Why don't you do both.get a job in accounting and get your masters while you work.

Nowadays.... Going for the master's (WITH AN MBA) IS essential. I know three CFOs (Chief Financial Officers) in some corporations and they would be nothing if they did not have their master's WITH MBA. Go for it. In the future (particularly in THIS field), you will not be sorry and with a masters WITH MBA, you will put yourself in a competitive field and not just in ann ordinary field... Believe me. Costs money... yes.. I went to the University with NO money and worked my whole way thru at the University and a small loan. I do not regret it in the least.

get some experience and work on your masters degree at night. You'll run into the same problem in a year or 2 with a masters degree and no experience --> and at that point the problem might actually be a bigger problem. no experience is worse the longer you wait. i graduated with a BS in accounting with minors in Comp Sci & Economics with little experience. I worked for a year and then found a company to pay for my MBA. The experience in that year got me the job and the job got me my MBA.

What's is the difference between Master of Accounting and MBA/Accounting
| What's is the difference between Master of Accounting and MBA/Accounting? I'm thinking of completing my studies, what do you recommend? Higher Education (University +) - 2 Answers Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions : 1 MBA/Accounting is a double-major... clearly it is much better to have 2 majors than 1... but if you're getting an MBA, why are you even bothering getting an accounting degree? you'll be making 3x more using your MBA than you accounting degree... just get an MBA and forget about accounting... 2 Mater of Science in Accounting is an advanced accounting degree beyond the bachelors of Science in accounting. Typically it consists of a year of concentrated study in accounting beyond the bachelors courses, usually leading to a CPA, which in most states requires 30 hours of graduate work beyond the BS. The MBA is a Master in Business Administration, usually consisting of two year of study of general business courses, intended for graduates with any undergraduate degree who have several years of work experience after graduation and want to gain management positions. MBA in accounting does not exist. Nor does MBA in finance, or MBA in marketing, or MBA in anything else. The MBA is a terminal degree in business administration. MBA programs may have a concentration in accounting, or another field, which usually means two or three elective courses in the field in the second year, but the students still earn a master in business administration, regardless of concentration. Before you decide on an MBA program explore the Internet for information on available programs. There is a lot of information available in free public service sites. Some sites are limited to specific countries, such as Germany, UK, or Australia. Some list a small number of select schools, while others may include more than 2,000 MBA programs listed worldwide. You can find the program that best fits you. You can search for programs by location (US, Europe, Far East, etc.), by concentration (finance, marketing, aviation management, health management, accounting, etc.), by type of program (full-time, distance learning, part-time, executive, and accelerated), and by type of degree (MBA, MS, Ph.D). In some cases you can select your own criteria and preferences to get a list of universities that satisfy your needs. You can find data on entrance requirements, program costs, program characteristics, joint degrees such as MBA/JD, and much more. Some sites have links to the schools' web sites, or provide email addresses to contact schools of your choice, and send them pre-applications. You can find lists of top schools ranked by various periodicals or ranked by starting salaries of graduates, GMAT scores, and other criteria. Generally you should stay away from any sites that require you to pay to get information or that promise to find scholarships for you or ensure acceptance into a program. Before you provide any personal information to a site, be sure to read their privacy policy and make sure they are not harvesting email addresses for sale. |

Phoenix University is always advertising, so you could try them. I don't think online degrees are as respected though as degrees one gets from sitting in class.

My favorite search tool for online degree programs is Peterson's at http://www.petersons.com/distancelearning/code/search.asp You have far more options than the "as seen on TV" online colleges. Accounting is a perfectly suited field for online study.
